I’m Rick (he/him), a Middlebury College student studying Environmental Studies and Geography, graduating in Spring 2028.

Outside of class, I am an outdoor educator, environmental advocate, and ski instructor passionate about advancing equity in the outdoors and protecting the places we love. As an Outdoor Programs Assistant at Middlebury Outdoor Programs, I help connect students with local adventure opportunities, from climbing and paddling to gear consignment and outdoor skills workshops. As a ski instructor at Killington, I deliver memorable experiences for children and adults of all abilities.

Academically, I am engaged in understanding the intersection of conservation, environmental policy, and spatial analysis. My course works are primarily in the fields of politics, economics, environmental studies, human geography, and GIS. I approach environmental challenges as the result of two interconnected systems: the natural environment and human society. I’m currently applying for summer roles in environmental advocacy, public affairs, law, and regional planning. I hope to combine my leadership experience, communication skills, and GIS to advocate for climate policy, equitable outdoor access, and regional conservation efforts, among other topics.

When I’m not organizing outdoor programs or working on mapping projects, you can find me skiing, climbing, or exploring new landscapes—always with a map in hand.
